FARMER’S SUPPORT

President William Ruto has outlined measures aimed at protecting local farmers and ensuring price stability. He emphasized that the government will only consider deviations from these measures if there is an insufficient supply of local produce. The government has allocated Ksh 4 billion to purchase maize from farmers in support of this initiative.

During a meeting at State House in Nairobi with a delegation from Narok North Constituency, led by MP Agnes Pareiyo, President Ruto emphasized the importance of farmers not selling their produce at low prices.

To address post-harvest losses caused by high moisture levels, the President announced that the National Cereals and Produce Board (NCPB) will offer maize drying services to farmers at a reduced fee of Ksh 50 per bag, down from the previous cost of nearly Sh400.

Additionally, President Ruto revealed plans to construct a KCC milk plant in Narok to enhance milk quality and subsequently increase prices for dairy farmers.
