PS for Livestock Development, Mr. Harry Kimtai, officially launched a public Stakeholders Consultation on the proposed Animal Production professionals and Technicians Bill 2023, in Kisumu Hotel, Kisumu County. The forum brought together professionals and stakeholders in the livestock industry to share views, ideas and experiences on the proposed document of animal production professionals and technicians bill 2023.

The PS remarked that the document is aimed at bringing sanity to the animal production sector and will regulate training, registration and licensing of animal production professionals and technicians and will also  regulate standards and practice of the animal production profession. He further added that since the livestock subsector currently operates in an environment of challenges such as lack of animal welfare standards in the livestock industry and increased degradation of rangelands ecosystems, there is need for concerted efforts and effective regulations guided by responsive policies and strategies.
